Okay... well... I guess this thread is not going to win any prizes. I'm a bit surprised since I had thought there would be a lot more interest in this topic here. Even if one is not interested in coins or medals per-se, it should be obvious that an engraver could cut dies for a token promoting their own engraving service... a sort of metallic business card... that would embody an actual example of the engraver's work. Many such engraver's tokens of the 1800s and early 1900s are known to token collectors. Since there is something of a resurgence in engraving it might be time to bring back that tradition.
