Default Re: Inexpensive way to give it a try

Faux, About your question of books: I am a great believer in learning new skills by studying books. I have 9 "how to" books on engraving in addition to art and drawing books. I keep buying them thinking I am going to find breakthrough info. Haven't yet. This is one craft where books have limited value. The books I have are mostly about lettering, except for Meeks, The Art of engraving. It is mostly from the standpoint of engraving guns, but even if you are like me and have no interest in engraving guns, it is the best book if you can own only one out of the ones I have. Alot of it is obsolete due to modern sharpening methods and computers, but still shows what can be done and gives you a good overall view of the world of engraving. Bought mine in good condition for $30.00 with shipping. Well worth it. If you are interested in lettering like me there are are other books I could recommend after you buy Meeks book. Kevin Scott
