Hi Pedroito,
How long have you been working with your hands?
That is the first important question I think.
I have been a goldsmith for some years using the gravers only to set stones.
Never thought I could engrave letters or scrolls.
For me the Lindsay tools made this possible for me and I am greatfull forever because of that.

Two and a half year ago I only did push engrave for stone setting and the very simple leafe boarders. If you look at my photo album you wil see that I have come a bit further with hand engraving. All thanks to the airgraver.

When I started out searching for information, I was pretty sure I was going to get a GRS system because the Lindsay tools where not known in Europe.
I asked the pro's on this forum about which tool to buy and they where all in favour of the Lindsay
If you are interested,
http://www.handengravingforum.com/sh...Lindsay+versus

If you want the most versitile airgraver system, Get the Pc airgraver.
If you have experience with foot pedals, the classic will also do just fine.
If you have the bucks to spare, get the PC with a double regulator and a foot pedel. That way you will be sure to be able to do any sort of engraving wether it is very fine to heavy duty kind of work.

Either way, you cant go wrong with the classic or PC. The learnig curve it takes to learn push engraving will be shortend by years and no, I am not kidding.

I took a leap of faith a few years ago. I went with what the pro's told me.
I have never been more sorry than not buying this tool sooner!~

I would say that the lindsay classic or pc would be the best tool to get if you want to get into print making.
If you know how to use a foot pedal the classic would be the more economic choice, but the pc,,, well, no equal exists

Palm control it`s for "professional" rich people......no....it is joke XDD
I think for a beginner classic airgraver with foot control it`s a very good tool,i have buyed one a week ago and work very well, and for learn basic engraving work fine,it`s easy, maybe for a beginner spent 3000 $ is to expensive to start, the great error that i have make is don`t buy a Lindsay system sharpening,i think it`s essential ,a good sharpening system like a good engraver system, but i don`t know very well wich templates are "essentials" maybe the 4 of the set with four stones?
Roland maybe you can help me, i would make engraved rings ,lettering, basically work in silver, wich templates i have to buy?

I don't know if it is to expensive but me I had order directly this one and I will not change for one else... and I have all tools here ;-)
Of course the classic is an excellent tool too but it is easier for me to work with my hand than my foot and the sensibility is different.
For your templates you can order the detailing, universal, and flat. For the stones, I use the 100 and 600 and 1200 sometimes. You will have easier too with the Tom White power hone.

Hi Pedroito,
Thanks for sending me the link to your website. You should let others here enjoy the beauty of your excelent blacksmithing work

Hi Mrthe,
I mostly use the 2000 grid stone for sharpening the gravers. Sometimes the 1600 (the one less course beneeth the 2000) if my point breaks badly.
For the mirror polish on heel and face I use a ceramic (porcelain) stone with diamond powder 50000 grid. That works fantastic and very quick.

I do notice that my 2000 grid stone gets smoother the more I use it but it could take you some serious grinding to get there
I allmost only use the universal template for lettering and most engravings. Next is the detailing point and as Roland says, the flat.
All other graver shapes I mostly make myself.

Tom White's powerhone is perfect. I use it for the first step of graver shaping with the Lindsay Templates. For the rest I use the 2000 benche stone and the porcelain with diamond.

Thanks, the problem is that I have seen that if I buy 3 stones of diamond and 3 templates leaves to me but expensive that if I buy the Seth who comes with 4 the 4 stones and templates, furthermore the expenses of shipment if I choose the first option increase the double, maybe the best option is buy the set with 4 stones y 4 templates, calligraphy, detailing, flat & knife combo and universal.

Hi Mrthe, You can order what you'd like and then we will refund the shipping if it isn't isn't right. I think it does that for international orders when selecting indiviudal items with usps mail. Just write us a note in the space provided the first amount you're seeing and we'll check it out.
