Cad Scrolls

Hey All, I am trying to marry up my two loves, My old love being CAD and the new one engraving. My plan is to write a script in Rhinoceros3d that will take a set of curves and array them between two curves, so basically you can extract the edges of your ring shank on the side etc, and the curves can be tapering reducing etc.. then run the script, which will dynamically array and flow the curves to the selection. my knowledge of RhinoScript is pretty low so will go slowly. If anyone wants to jump in and help shout out.

Stage one was simple.. Draw source curves! I picked what is presumably the thee most common styles and started with those. All curves are my own work, and the styles are very generic so hopefully im not stepping on toes. Drawing a curve is easy.. drawign a curve so that it can be flipped horizontaly and vertically and still be tiled .. not so much



after drawing them i tested a FLOW to a reducing spiral. SUCCESS





of course you can mix and match and flow to anything.



and the scribing hopefully would be along these lines (diamond spring engraver is still WIP)



or simply to PIPE in your cad model so you cast the liners then chase by hand after.

UPDATE: I found someone to write the script for me, still WIP but moving forward solidly



the next stage is I get funky on my rhino and knock up some tsplines geometry to flow around the ring so it can be deep sculpted in CAD then CAM so ti can be touched up by hand after casting..
