Hello from Missouri
Thanks for allowing my to join. Started engraving in February of this year using hammer and chisel. In July I took the intro class with Ray Cover. Excited to learn what I can and totally understand this will not be something I will master by the end of next week. Currently I have nothing I feel is quality enough to show. That will come in time.

Re: Hello from Missouri
Hi and welcome! Good for you with some classes.. hope to do that in the future, it’ll save you a lot of time in the learning curve :-)
Don’t be afraid to show.. it doesn’t have to be good, and personally I learned a lot from feedback from other engravers.. there is a lot to pick up with all the knowledge from great engravers on here :-) Sometimes better than doing the same mistakes over and over..

Re: Hello from Missouri
It will take me a little while to figure out how to post pictures. Every forum I get on is different.

Re: Hello from Missouri
The first picture was a piece we worked on in the engraving class that I tried again after returning home. The other three are key rings I’ve made for family and friends. So far all my work at home is done with hammer and chisel. Next week I’ll be ordering a Lindsey graver.

Re: Hello from Missouri
Troy,
Nice, clean work. It looks like you learned well from Ray, he is a great instructor and a really nice person. You seem to have a firm grasp on the basic principles, just practice, post, and draw, draw, draw. Brant |

Re: Hello from Missouri
In a couple of weeks things will really start to improve. I’m ordering a new Classic from Steve Monday. All my work outside of what I did at the Cover class has been done with hammer and chisel.
