Default Preying Mantis Sculpture

Hi,
I just finished a piece and thought you would be interested. The piece is life sized. The dimensions including the base are 6 1/2" X 7" x 6" high. It is made up or well over a hundred separate pieces. It was finished using my high speed air hand piece and my Lindsay handpiece.

A beautiful piece, my first reaction to it was that the brass part of the base looks like an ashtray and that its color overwhelms the sculpture. I suggest that you patina the brass and see how it looks. If you do not like the change you can easily return to the original color.(Just an opinion perhaps a shade of green would set the contrast.)Looking foward to your next work.
Have a great day

Hi,
Thank you.
Joseph,
The brass turned piece was a choice that I made to contain the flower and bug, somewhat like in a flower pot. The Preying Mantis is crawling over the base and into the area created by the "pot". The bright surface was to contrast with the other dark pieces. I did try it the way you suggested but decided I liked this better.
Thanks,
Dick
