Re: Hi from Tx
After searching the forum and triplechecking to make sure this is something I need to do, im set in stone.
lemme share a little about me; i am 29 years old, Married, got a dog no kids yet. was considerd somewhat of an artist as a kid/teen I started working off and on as a bench jeweler when i was about 16. was a welder for about 3 months, then got more serious in jewelry when i hit about 19. I consider myself a Beginer/intermediate jeweler as ive never had any schooling/teaching. Everything i know has been through on the job experience. done work in NY and Tx. Worked for Mom n Pop, Big Corporation, and Franchise settings. i once sized 120 rings in 6 hours. capable of any stone setting work thrown at me. i do some watch repair. craft jewelry for family and select friends. i love to design and throw my take on a new piece. currently working at a mom n pop location close to Houston, seems to be holding its own in this economy (almost 30 years in the same location) i always knew there had to be more to jewelry than what ive seen thus far. (Repair, Setting, Design, Casting, Waxing) it makes me sick to see alot of the Box store (Designer) work, mostly junk. i feel theres only a Few manufacturers that are any decent. I must say after seeing some of the galleries here Im truly inspired. alot of you have made me rethink what a real jeweler is. ive always admired the work ive seen in the past but never had the oprotunity to work with an engraver or had the the tools required. I beleive ive found my own next step. after my Vacation in October(Hawaii) i plan to get my own engraving rig. until then ill be searching whats what and trying to find the tools right for me. |
